Becky Cloonan
If the last few years are any indication, Becky Cloonan’s career has been on an upward trajectory. In a 2015 CBR poll of top female artists and writers, Cloonan made both lists, at #3 and #14, respectively. Only three years earlier, in 2012, she was the first woman to draw Batman.
Cloonan’s star started to rise with 2004’s Demo series, created with writer Brian Wood. The twelve-issue limited series, published by AiT/Planet Lar, was nominated for the “Best Limited Series” Eisner award in 2005. She went on to create her own graphic novel East Coast Rising for Tokyopop, in 2006, which was also nominated for an Eisner.
